lyrics

things would seem less asinine
if I didn't leave the past behind
so instead, I held it to my face

and the past, it spat at me
now I need ocular surgery
because the venom it stings and permeates

Rach you seem spent
you should go lay down
you should take a break

but I live on the block where I was born
and I get lost driving round the corner

I woke up old

I don't even know how I get here
I only seem to ever be half there
I swear that I'll be late for my own wake

and you know the strangest thing
it's manufactured and it's preconceived
how can one mind hold so many bad takes?

and oh how I try
to just live for now
to not worry wild

but I keep myself up at night waiting for retirement

I woke up old

you can call it hard times
you can say my soul's been aged
but I know it's just my mind
that keeps me running toward the grave

you can call it existential you can call it nihilism
but just let me dwell for the next millennium
I'll drive myself crazy if it's the last thing I do
you'd do the same if you were me, wouldn't you?
